There are two opposing forces fighting for us, the one true God and the god of this world. Both promise things and both bring them to pass but only our one true God brings good, perfect, loving things. He brings peace and contentment. He brings joy and riches. He sent his one true son the Christ Jesus that we may have truth and life and riches. We are earthen vessels, corruptable and fleeting, that we may not say our power is from us but rather that it is from God eternal; the excellency of our power is of God.
So not matter what we face let us turn our thought and focus to God and let our mouths be full of His grace and power that we may spread His glory rather than the that of lesser idols.

Make God’s word My will

When God first created man he formed the body, created the spirit, and made the soul. Inherent in this process was God bestowing free will upon man. Man has freedom of will, the freedom to do whatever he wants, and was given the responsibility, the benefits, and the accountability that free will entails. Man, like the angels, has the ability to choose what to do. Man can choose to obey or disobey God but God will never control, never overstep man’s freedom of will. The Devil tries to influence our choices but the way of the Devil is death, corruption, and loss of freedom. Jesus Christ became our best example of man’s freedom of will and how to make the right choice when he declared “Not my will but thine be done.” Christ had a choice and he chose to do the will of God. God did not force him but Christ made a conscious effort to make God’s Word his will. We should make this our effort, our choice, and strive to make it day by day; “Make God’s Word my will.”

Why Jesus Christ? The need for redemption

Jesus Christ is our savior but why does man need a savior? Because of Adam’s transgression regarding God’s commandment, man no longer had the loving relationship with God he was intended; moreover man was now subject unto the devil and unto death. God was not one to destroy, instead he worked up the plan of redemption, that through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and the spilling of his blood, man’s ransom would be payed and fulfilled. Our covenant with God now is not one of flesh and works such as the law was, but now is an eternal one, based on faith wherein we are called God’s children and fellow heirs with Jesus Christ. This is the need that man has for Jesus Christ, that man may have a relationship with God and no longer be subject to the Devil.
